If you engage us to sell the practice, we will take you through the following steps. Click here to view our current practices for sale.
- Firstly, we carry out a goodwill valuation remotely to ensure the price we would expect to get for the practice is in line with your needs and expectations. We normally prepare valuations based on the last three years audited accounts and other information supplied by the practice. The basis of such additional information is provided on a questionnaire, a copy of which can be downloaded. This does look rather daunting but many questions can be simply answered or may be irrelevant to your situation. From such material we then prepare the goodwill valuation, which includes judgements about the subjective factors affecting the value of the practice.
- Following the goodwill valuation, if you decide to go ahead and sell the practice, we then visit you to familiarise ourselves with all that is being offered for sale. We then determine with yourself all the assets being offered for sale and the overall value of them. We will also take photographs and from this information develop a sales brochure. Such a brochure would be sent to you for approval before being sent to any potential purchaser. When we visit your practice, we will also discuss the process of obtaining an Energy Performance Certificate (now a legal requirement) and how you may go about finding an assessor.
- We will write to all those who are on our list who may be seeking a practice such as yours. We would, if needed, also advertise the practice in the Veterinary Press. However, many of the practices we handle are never advertised this way
- Before sending your full sales brochure to any prospective purchaser, we would supply them with a Confidentiality Agreement which they would have to sign. This is designed to protect your interests to ensure that information gained is not wrongly used to your detriment
- We arrange with yourselves for interested parties to view the practice, receive offers and negotiate on behalf of the vendor with those interested in proceeding. Our aim is to get the best possible price for you, the vendor. We also ensure that any party making an offer has the finance to proceed. We can assist in directing interested parties to the major lending banks who regularly provide loans to those purchasing veterinary practices.
- Upon acceptance of an offer from a party willing to proceed, we liaise with Solicitors to ensure that completion can be achieved within a reasonable time frame.
